In a shocking turn of events, a man from Bhadrak district, identified as Badal Das, was arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly sexually assaulting his own daughter. The 15-year-old victim, along with her mother, had filed a police complaint against him, stating that he had been inappropriately touching and molesting her. The incident had taken place on May 25, when the victim was sleeping with her family in their home in Santi Vihar, Maitri Vihar, Bhubaneswar.

According to Mrutyunjay Swain, the Inspector-in-Charge of Maitri Vihar police station, Badal was taken into custody after the complaint was filed. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the accused had been repeatedly sexually assaulting his minor daughter. A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and Badal was examined by a medical professional before being taken into custody on Tuesday night.

However, things took a dramatic turn when the accused arrived at the police station and requested to use the restroom. Upon entering the restroom, he locked the door from inside and proceeded to harm himself with a sharp object. The police were alerted by his loud screams and had to forcefully enter the restroom to save him. He was immediately rushed to Capital Hospital and later transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.

The police have charged Badal with attempted suicide under Sections 309, 324, and 326 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. He was presented before a local court on Wednesday. This shocking incident has left the community in disbelief and has raised concerns about the safety and protection of minors. The police have assured that they will do their best to ensure that justice is served for the victim and her family.
