Family arrested for operating successful cocaine business, sentenced to jail.
Angela Sparrow, a 58-year-old woman, has been sentenced to jail for her involvement in a cocaine smuggling operation, along with her two children. The court heard that she, along with her daughter Terrie Renwick, 32, and son Robert Renwick, 33, were caught peddling class A drugs in Warrington, Cheshire, during an undercover police investigation.

Prosecutor Henry Riding shared that Sparrow would often drive her daughter to different locations known for drug activity, and her son would handle any new inquiries from potential customers. They also sent out 1,493 bulk text messages, known as "flare" messages, to drug dealers between February and July 2023.

It was revealed that the family advertised "quality" class A drugs and even offered them on credit. When Robert was arrested on the same day as his mother, he was found to have 21.8g of cocaine, which is worth around £2,000 if sold in 1g deals.

Sparrow was found guilty of being involved in the supply of cocaine after a trial, but she continued to deny her involvement. On the other hand, Robert pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of cocaine and possession with intent to supply.

During the sentencing, Sparrow's lawyer, Michael Scholes, stated that his client has a long history of drug addiction and mental health issues. He also emphasized that she played a lesser role in the dealing compared to her daughter, who was described as a powerful character.

Zahra Baqri, representing Robert, shared that her client is deeply ashamed of his actions and that he only got involved in the drug operation to pay off a debt inherited from his sister's partner.

Both Sparrow and Robert were sentenced together this week, with Sparrow receiving two years and eight months in prison, while Robert received three years.

Terrie, who was previously jailed after being caught flushing drugs down a toilet, claimed that she resorted to dealing to fund her honeymoon.
