As I step into the reception area, I am greeted by a delightful aroma and a warm welcome from the spa manager. The treatment rooms are beautifully themed around the four elements - fire, earth, water, and air.
One unique feature that sets the Away spa apart is their sand bed, a rarity in the UK. Inspired by the ancient tradition of sand bathing, this experience is said to have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving benefits. However, my visit today is for a 30-minute back, neck, and shoulder massage. As I make my way down the bright, white corridor, I can't help but feel a sense of calm and tranquility.
I am led into a spacious and impressive treatment room, themed around fire. The warm, cozy atmosphere instantly makes me feel at ease. My therapist, Nuha, takes the time to discuss any concerns or problem areas I may have. I am delighted to hear that a foot scrub is included in the treatment, which is much needed after a winter of hiding my feet in woolly socks. And of course, I couldn't resist adding some hot stones to my massage. The massage table is incredibly comfortable and Nuha's skilled touch leaves me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
The Comfort range of products used during the massage emit a pleasant aroma that fills the room. I try my best not to drift off into a deep slumber as I lay on the soft, fluffy towel. After just 30 minutes, I feel looser and more relaxed than I have in a long time. But my spa experience is far from over.
Wrapped in a cozy robe and slippers, Nuha leads me through the almost-ultraviolet corridor and into a private spa suite. Behind a seemingly ordinary door lies a blissful haven that will be all mine for the next hour. The suite features luxurious amenities such as a hot tub, sauna, and a dreamy spa shower that mimics warm rain and has adjustable ambient lighting. And to top it all off, there's a sumptuous Ishga salt scrub that leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.
After indulging in a long soak in the tub and a refreshing sauna session, I am ready to get ready and head back into the real world. The Dyson hairdryer and straighteners provided in the suite make getting ready a breeze. As I leave the spa, not only is my skin feeling rejuvenated, but I am also relaxed and refreshed, ready to take on my grown-up responsibilities with a spring in my step.
While the private suite is perfect for couples, I highly recommend it as a treat for some much-needed me time. The 30-minute targeted massage costs £60, and the private spa suite can be reserved for £55 per person for an hour.
