The 2024 Lok Sabha elections have been a tough battle for the Left parties as they fought to stay afloat. However, amidst the intense competition, there was a slight improvement in their performance. According to the vote counting trends, they were leading in eight to ten seats.

The CPI, which previously only had three MPs in the 17th Lok Sabha, showed a promising lead in five parliamentary seats based on the latest updates from the Election Commission website at noon. One of the major surprises was in Rajasthan, where the CPI candidate from Sikar, Amra Ram, was ahead of BJP's Sumedhanand Saraswati by a whopping 55,814 votes.

In Tamil Nadu, the CPI was fighting on two seats - Madurai and Dindigul - and was leading in both. In Kerala's Alathur, K Radhakrishnan of the CPI was also in the lead by over 15,936 votes against Congress candidate Ramya Haridas.

One of the tightest races was in Attingal, Kerala, where the CPI had put forward V Joy against Congress' Adoor Prakash. As per the trends at noon, the CPI candidate was ahead by a slim margin of 600 votes. In West Bengal's Murshidabad, CPI's Md Salim was trailing behind Trinamool Congress candidate Abu Taher Khan by around 11,838 votes.

Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (CPI) was leading in two seats in Tamil Nadu - Tirupur and Nagapattinam. In Bihar's Begusarai, CPI's Abdhesh Kumar Roy was falling behind BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh by approximately 8,000 votes.

On the other hand, the Communist Party of India (Liberation) was leading in two out of the three seats they contested in Bihar. In Arrah, CPI-ML's Sudama Prasad was ahead of BJP's RK Singh by a margin of 18,000 votes, while in Karakat, Raja Ram Singh was ahead of NDA candidate Upendra Kushwaha by approximately 25,000 votes. However, they were trailing in Nalanda.

Interestingly, expelled BJP member and Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh was in the third position in Karakat. Overall, the CPI had a vote share of 1.83% by noon, surpassing their 2019 figure of 1.75%. The CPI-M's vote share was 0.57%, while CPI-ML's share was 0.11%.
