There hasn't been a lot of exhilaration for Dwight Howard since his departure from the NBA and beginning to play for a professional team in Taiwan, but that changed recently. According to CBS News, Howard was part of a game that was halted due to a fight that quickly developed into an all-out quarrel over the weekend. Though it looks like he wasn't a primary actor in the brawl, the ex-Laker was
discharged, along with a total of 11 other players from either squad.
On Sunday, the Taoyuan Leopards, which is the team Howard plays on in Taiwan's T1 League, was playing the Taiwan Beer HeroBears. During the match, the Leopards' Chen Hsiao-Jung elbowed his opponent, Chiang Yu-An of the HeroBears, which began the altercation.
After Yu-An reacted to the hit by attacking Hsiao-Jung, the other players on the hardcourt went to mediate and in the process, a coach from the HeroBears went after Hsiao-Jung, triggering the scuffle that included multiple participants from both teams.
The game was postponed for over 20 minutes. Throughout this time, according to The New York Post, the referees studied the footage of the incident and ejected 12 players, five from the HeroBears, and the other seven from the Leopards.
The video shows that Howard was not directly involved in the battle, yet the officials
dismissed him in addition to players who were observed taking part in the brawl. Howard's stats for the game were an impressive 28 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the former Magic player not finishing the game, his team won, 120-108. The success elevated the record of the Leopards to 4-11. That puts them in last place in a league that has six teams.
Howard is also playing incredibly well as he is averaging 24.4 points, 14.1 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per match.
The New York Post reported that this is a brand new league as it only started in 2021.
