Gonikoppal, Nov. 9: The Donikadavu Bridge, which is the connection bridge between Balele and Kottageri in Balele hobli in South Kodagu, has a huge hole in one part, and this bridge is in danger.
This bridge was built many decades ago during the tenure of Janardhan Poojary, who was a minister, as a connection bridge between Balele and Kottageri on the request of citizens. The bridge is very narrow and there is no barrier on either side of the bridge. A large hole has formed in one part of the bridge, and a small crack is appearing on one side of the bridge due to the rush of water.
Since this bridge is very narrow, one vehicle cannot give way to another when vehicles are moving on the bridge. 4Fifth page (from the first page) In such a case, vehicles have to stop on one side and move only after the vehicle coming from the opposite side has moved.
Since there is no barrier wall on either side of the bridge, citizens walking on the top of the bridge have to move from one side to the other in fear. There are farmers' fields on both sides of the road, and the farmers and growers of this area have given their consent to give up their land for the widening of the road.
The road leading to Kottageri, in front of the hospital, which is not far from Balele town, is very narrow, causing problems for vehicular traffic. The Donikadavu bridge, which is the connection bridge from the top of the bridge to Kottageri, needs to be renovated.
