Dolly Parton, the Queen of country music, seems to have an endless list of talents. From her incredible singing and songwriting abilities to her acting skills, she has proven time and time again that she can do it all. Not to mention, she has also co-written a novel with James Patterson, has her own theme park, and has even started a philanthropic foundation to help children develop a love for reading. Oh, and let's not forget that she was also an uncredited producer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Is there anything this woman can't do?
And as if that wasn't enough, the 78-year-old from Tennessee has recently added even more to her already impressive resume. She has launched a cookware range, a pet line, and a dazzling cosmetics business. It's safe to say that Dolly is a true multi-hyphenate, and she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
But just when you thought she couldn't possibly add anything else to her plate, Dolly surprises us yet again with her latest venture: Dolly Wines. Yes, you read that right. The iconic country singer has now entered the world of alcohol with her own range of wines. And let me tell you, they are anything but ordinary.
The collection features four different wines, but currently only two of them are available in the UK: a French Rosé and a Prosecco. Both of which are now available at Asda for £9.50 and £11 respectively. The Prosecco is described as a refreshing and zesty sparkling wine with hints of peach and apricot, while the Rosé is said to be delicate and romantic with notes of strawberry and citrus.
As a self-proclaimed Dolly fan and lover of pink wine, I simply couldn't resist trying out these new bottles. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed. After a long day of work, I poured myself a glass of Dolly's ambition and prepared to be wowed. But unfortunately, I was left feeling a little underwhelmed.
Now, I'm no wine expert, and I'm definitely not a wine snob. I'll enjoy a glass of chicken wine just as much as the next person. And I've even tried other celebrity wines like Kylie's and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's Miraval. But I have to admit, Dolly's wines fell a bit flat for me.
The Rosé was the better of the two, but it still didn't quite hit the mark for me. It reminded me of wine that had been watered down with ice cubes. And as for the Prosecco, well, let's just say it wasn't my cup of tea. But again, I must reiterate, I am not a wine expert.
Even Metro's drinks editor, Rob Buckhaven, wasn't overly impressed with Dolly's wines. While he acknowledged their charming packaging and the light, easy-drinking nature of the Prosecco and Rosé, he stated that they were not world-beating wines and were not meant to be. But who knows, maybe in time they will surprise us all.
In the end, Dolly's wines may not be the best on the market, but they definitely embody her joyful essence in every sip. And that's something that is truly hard to bottle. So, cheers to Dolly for once again showing us that there is nothing she can't do. Have you tried her new wine range? Share your thoughts with us!
