DJ Matt McBriar had an operation on his brain after finding an uncommon growth in his bicep.
Matt McBriar, one half of the popular DJ duo Bicep, recently shared some personal news with his fans. In an Instagram post, he revealed that he is currently recovering from brain surgery after discovering he had a rare tumour on his pituitary gland. The Northern Irish musician first noticed something was wrong when he started experiencing intense headaches and fatigue towards the end of 2023.

After several blood tests, it was confirmed that there was indeed a problem, and Matt's GP arranged for him to undergo an MRI and CT scan. Unfortunately, the results showed that Matt had a large and rare Craniopharyngioma tumour on his pituitary gland. However, the good news is that it is not cancerous and was caught in the early stages.

Matt considers himself lucky to have caught it early, as the location and size of the tumour could have caused serious damage if left untreated. He underwent surgery on August 9th and is currently in the hospital recovering. However, he will need at least 6-8 weeks of recovery and aftercare.

Despite his health struggles, Matt remained determined to continue performing and keeping his mind busy. He expressed his gratitude towards the NHS and the amazing consultants, surgeons, doctors, and nurses who have taken care of him during this difficult time. He also thanked his family, friends, and colleagues for their unwavering support.

Fans of Bicep were quick to show their support and love for Matt, with many sending well wishes and positive messages. The duo's upcoming performances will now be done by Andy alone until Matt is fully recovered. They are scheduled to perform at Creamfields Festival on August 22 and have dates set for Canada and the US in September.
