Indore is celebrating Nag Panchami, a festival of worshipping snakes and Lord Shiva, with much devotion and enthusiasm. People have been visiting the Nag temples in the city since early morning to perform Abhishek, a ritual of anointing a deity with milk and other offerings. Kaleshwar Dham located in Sudama Nagar has been decorated to mark the occasion. A six-feet silver coil of the Nag Devta, the serpent God, has been installed in the temple and people have been offering milk and flowers.
Similarly, a fair has been organised in the Banganga temple of Kumharkhadi. People have been taking part in the Markandeya ritual, where the snake idol is being anointed with milk, saffron, and fruits. Mahaarti, a ritual of worshipping with music and dance, is scheduled to be performed in the evening.
The devotees are also offering traditional Malvi food including dal-bati and churma to the lord, and abhishek is being performed in the temples. Prasad will be distributed among the devotees after Mahaartri.
