Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, accompanied by a team, made their way to Bhubaneswar to gain a better understanding of the National e-Vidhan Application. This application has played a vital role in helping the Odisha Assembly implement a paperless legislative process, as shared by an official on Tuesday.
Their visit, scheduled from April 15 to April 17, will provide Speaker Gupta with a valuable opportunity to observe and learn from the digital practices of the Odisha Assembly. The aim of this tour, as stated by an official of the Delhi Assembly Secretariat, is to study the most effective methods, technological structures, and operational models adopted by Odisha in successfully implementing NeVA.
Upon their arrival in Bhubaneswar, the delegation from the Delhi Legislative Assembly met with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surma Padhi, and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi. The team from Delhi included Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, senior officials of the Delhi Assembly, and key officers involved in the E-Vidhan project.
During their meeting, Odisha CM Manjhi gave a detailed overview of the state's innovative digital attendance system. This system enables Members of the Legislative Assembly to mark their attendance and access daily proceedings through digital dashboards, contributing significantly to the goal of a paperless Assembly.
Speaker Gupta also engaged in extensive discussions with Odisha Assembly Speaker Padhi on the implementation of the E-Vidhan system in Delhi. Speaker Padhi assured full cooperation and shared valuable insights from Odisha's recent transition to a paperless legislative process.
In a separate interaction with the Odisha Governor, Speaker Gupta discussed the Delhi Assembly's initiative to become fully solar-powered. He informed the Governor that the Assembly was soon to generate 550 kw of solar power, resulting in an estimated monthly savings of Rs 15 lakh in electricity costs.
The Odisha Governor, Dr Kambhampati, was impressed by this model and expressed interest in adopting a similar solar energy system at the Raj Bhavan. He commended Delhi's progressive steps towards integrating technology with environmental sustainability, highlighting its potential to serve as a role model for legislative bodies across the country.
