Dasara Sports Committee Launches Bull Exhibition Initiative

Madikeri, Oct 18: For the first time, the city’s Dasara Sports Committee organized an exhibition of 'Hallikar' bulls at the local Gandhi Maidan. The event began with a *puja* (ritual worship) for the bulls at the Sri Chauti Mariyamma Temple in Kundurumotte. This was followed by a procession that traveled via Raja Seat and concluded at Major Muttanna Circle. The exhibition subsequently took place at Gandhi Maidan.

Inaugurating the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp, A.S. Ponnanna—MLA for Virajpet and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister—praised the Madikeri Dasara Sports Committee for their commendable initiative. He noted that farmers are the lifeblood of society and lauded the committee for organizing an event that introduces the public to the farmers' way of life.

Sri Basavarajendra Swamiji of the Sri Siddalingeshwara Virakta Math in Arkalgud Taluk addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of living in harmony within society.

He urged everyone to adopt a guiding principle: even if one cannot light a lamp for others, one should not extinguish the lamps in their homes; even if one cannot build a house, one should not destroy another’s; and even if one cannot provide food for others, one should certainly not spoil the food meant for them.
