Danny Jones' won I'm A Celebrity and made history in British reality TV.
Tom Fletcher sat down for an exclusive interview to discuss his friend Danny Jones' recent victory on the popular reality TV show, I'm A Celebrity. As a member of the band McFly, Tom has been by Danny's side for 21 years and has shared countless experiences together, from post-show showers to writing musicals and even judging on The Voice.

Naturally, Tom was rooting for Danny to make history and become the first ever King of the Jungle. "He's been my best friend since we were 16/17. We've grown up with each other so I've known for most of my life that he is the most awesome human being I've ever met," Tom shared with Metro. He was thrilled to see Danny's true character shine through on the show and for everyone to witness the amazing person that he is.

Danny certainly left his mark on the show, surprising his campmate Dean McCullough with his revelation that he and his bandmates often take group showers and baths after gigs. But Danny took it all in stride, joking that he didn't realize it was anything out of the ordinary. "I thought all bands did that," he quipped.

With Danny's victory, McFly now has two I'm A Celebrity winners, as their bandmate Dougie Poynter won season 11 and Tom's wife, Giovanna Fletcher, won season 20. "I think deep down, all of us wanted to see him in the jungle doing some horrendous trials so we selfishly told him that he should definitely do it," Tom revealed. However, he also acknowledged that there is no pressure to win on these iconic British reality shows and that they are just grateful to be a part of them.

While Danny was busy in the jungle, he was still very much a part of Tom's life as they collaborated on a musical adaptation of Danny's bestselling children's book, The Creakers. As someone who is also working on another highly-anticipated musical, Paddington: The Musical, Tom has fully embraced his shift from writing albums to writing for the stage. He joked that as a nearly 40-year-old, it's hard to find inspiration for lyrics now that he is no longer fueled by teenage angst and romance.

The Creakers follows the story of a young girl who wakes up to find all the adults have disappeared. Tom promised a magical and spooky experience for the whole family with amazing puppetry, choreography, and set design. The musical will debut in London in 2024 and tickets are already on sale.

As for his experience as a coach on The Voice, Tom admitted that he was initially nervous about giving advice and coming across as someone who knows everything about the music industry. But after seeing his fellow coach, Sir Tom Jones, "winging it," he gained the confidence to share his own stories and experiences.

Looking ahead to 2025, Tom has an unconventional reunion planned with his band Busted, as they will be going head-to-head against each other. "This isn't like before when we were one happy family. The happy family has split," Tom shared. But he's excited for the friendly rivalry, which has always pushed both bands to do better. "Watch out Busted," he warned.

In the midst of a busy holiday season, Tom is already looking forward to the new year and all the exciting projects and experiences it will bring. But for now, he is content to sit back and support his friends and loved ones as they conquer the entertainment world.
