June 14th 2024.
We are thrilled to announce that our beloved Strictly Come Dancing star, Amy Dowden, has been recognized in the King's Birthday Honours list. She will be joining a prestigious group of high-profile figures, including Tracey Emin, Alan Bates, Gordon Brown, Anya Hindmarch, Mark Cavendish, Imelda Staunton, Susie Dent, Simon Le Bon, and Rebecca Ferguson.
At the young age of 19, Amy was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel condition. Despite this, she has not let it stop her from pursuing her passion for dance and raising awareness for the disease. As a result, she will be made an MBE, a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
In addition to her inspiring journey with Crohn's disease, Amy has also shared her battle with breast cancer. She has kept her fans updated on her progress, and in February of this year, she announced that there was no evidence of the disease in her body. We are overjoyed to hear that she will be returning to the Strictly professional dancer line-up for the 2024 series on BBC One.

Before her breast cancer diagnosis, Amy was open about her experiences with Crohn's disease. She is now an ambassador for Crohn's and Colitis UK, an organization dedicated to supporting those living with the condition. Rebecca Ferguson, who first rose to fame on The X Factor, is also receiving an MBE for her contributions to the arts.
Amy expressed her gratitude for being recognized for spreading awareness of Crohn's disease, stating that it was beyond her wildest dreams. She dedicated the MBE to all those who live with the condition and pledged to continue campaigning for research and awareness.
Other notable figures on the Honours list include Dame Imelda Staunton, who has been newly appointed as The Crown actress, fashion accessories designer Dame Anya Hindmarch, and cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish.
Alan Bates, whose story was depicted in the ITV drama Mr Bates vs the Post Office, will now be known as Sir Alan after accepting a knighthood. He had previously turned down an OBE, but now feels that he should receive some recognition for the work he has done for those affected by the Post Office scandal.
Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been made a Companion of Honour, a highly-regarded recognition given to only 65 people at a time. He feels slightly embarrassed about the honour and would prefer for the focus to be on the unsung local heroes.
Countdown legend Susie Dent had one of the best responses to her MBE, saying that she will celebrate on behalf of word lovers everywhere. She also promised to continue spreading the word, quite literally.
Cycling sprint star Mark was humbled by the knighthood and has always felt privileged to represent his country. The Thick Of It creator Armando Iannucci, who received a CBE, stressed the importance of defending public service television from attacks on its independence and funding.
We are proud to celebrate all the amazing individuals on the Honours list and their contributions to society. We would also love to hear from you if you have a celebrity story, video, or pictures.
