Dairy owner sentenced to 1 year in prison after 14 years of legal proceedings.
It has taken the legal system 14 years to sentence a dairy owner in Indore to one-year rigorous imprisonment for selling adulterated curd. Sanjay Khandelwal, owner of Shivam Shree Dairy Malharganj in Indore, was caught in 2009 by a team of food safety officers who raided his dairy shop and collected samples.

Manoj Raghuvanshi, the food safety officer, reported that Sanjay Khandelwal was sentenced to one year in rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 under Section 7/16 of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954 for selling, storing, and manufacturing adulterated curd. He further mentioned that inspection of the dairy was done in the presence of the firm owner and FSO Subhash Khedkar.

Raghuvanshi added that curd and other milk products were found stored for sale after manufacture. The sample of curd was taken by the food inspector to check the standard levels and was sent to the state food testing laboratory in Bhopal for examination. The test report received from the Bhopal laboratory revealed that the sample of curd was adulterated. The case was then presented before the Special Court, Municipal Corporation, Indore, where Sanjay Khandelwal was found guilty.

This case is a reminder to everyone that the sale of adulterated food is prohibited and that the legal system takes such matters seriously. It is important to ensure that all food items are of the highest quality to avoid any legal implications.
