I was completely amazed by the way in which the human body can move in Dada Masilo's The Sacrifice, a show that incorporates a mix of elements from European ballet, Botswanan Tswana dance, and ritual. The stage setup was basic, with the musicians located in one corner and a backdrop of projected images. Masilo, who is the choreographer and principal dancer, was mesmerizing in her performance, with her outfit accentuating her graceful movements. The other dancers were equally remarkable, as their movements were smooth and in unison, and their breathing and chanting added to the atmosphere of the piece. This 65-minute production will remain in my thoughts for a while. If you get the chance, I highly recommend you see it when it tours.

For further culture-related news and reviews, I suggest taking a look at the culture pages of Scottish Field. Additionally, in the April issue of the magazine, you can find a column from author Alexander McCall Smith.
