Ghulam Hussan, a 45-year-old man from Alfred Street, Bury, was recently sentenced to 21 months in prison after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting two carers who were looking after his disabled son.
Manchester Crown Court heard that the two women were hired to provide overnight care for his son, allowing Hussan to sleep at night. Over the course of six months, the women were left significantly affected after the assaults. One victim even stated that her entire life changed mentally, emotionally, and physically due to the attacks.
During one visit in November 2019, Hussan offered to help one of the carers by giving her a massage. During the massage, he proceeded to sexually touch her, despite her being uncomfortable. About six months later, he did the same thing to a second carer. She immediately reported him to the police, but he denied any wrongdoing.
The presiding judge at the trial, recorder Andrew Long, said that Hussan had taken advantage of the carers’ sympathy and understanding of his position as a father caring for his disabled son. He said that Hussan had never shown any guilt or remorse, and posed a high risk to other female carers.
Hussan was found guilty of three offences of sexual assault and one offence of assault by penetration. He was subsequently sentenced to 21 months in prison, as well as being added to the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. Social services have also created a plan to ensure that his son is provided with ongoing care while he is in prison.
