Jordan and Anthony Lay, a father and son duo who work as plasterers, were dealt a unique situation over the weekend. As they sat in the Red Lion pub in Birmingham, they noticed that the street outside had flooded.

Within minutes, the flood had made its way inside their pub and water levels had risen to above the line of Jordan's socks. To their surprise, the rest of the pubgoers decided to paddle around in the water rather than leave and the two decided to stay put.

Anthony, 45, refused to budge from his chair, announcing that he didn't want to get his white trainers dirty. A staff member then offered to give him a piggyback, to which Anthony replied, "No." He also said he wouldn't go outside because he "can't swim very good".

Jordan, 27, decided to order a couple of pints for the two of them and they carried on drinking, with other customers helping staff to disperse the water.

Once the water levels had dropped, the two left the pub so staff could begin the clean up. Anthony explained that the Red Lion is a great locals pub and that water flooding happens regularly due to the drains not being able to cope.

The news comes after Birmingham was hit by several flash floods over the weekend and the Met Office has warned that the wet and windy weather is set to continue. Temperatures are expected to stay around or slightly below the seasonal average for a few days to come, as high winds and rain are expected to hit.
