The complaint was filed over his alleged derogatory remarks about a divine character in Rishab Shetty's movie, Kantara: Chapter 1. The single-judge bench of Justice M.

Nagaprasanna presided over the hearing and raised the question of why there was a delay in filing objections. During the proceedings, the bench also noted that Ranveer's comments were not appropriate and highlighted the responsibility of public figures in their statements. It was argued that his previous apology on social media was insincere and demanded that he personally visit Chamundi Hill along with his counsel to apologize in person.

Following the backlash, Ranveer had issued a heartfelt apology on social media, claiming that his intention was to appreciate Rishab's exceptional performance as an actor.
