This adventurous cat has spent the past two years travelling to five countries and most of the United States with her owners. Hélène Vincent, 34, who works in education technology, and Alice, 38, who works in insurance, have taken Bao Zi to 45 states and 22 national parks. The Boston-based couple, both digital nomads, enjoy exploring with their six-year-old half Maine coon rescue cat. Hélène remarked, “The best part is the opportunity to experience the world through her eyes. We need to be vigilant when we’re on hikes to keep her safe, so we’re really present in the moment, which is great. She helps us to see things we would have missed, too.” Alice and Hélène relish the ‘freedom and spontaneity’ of their lifestyle. They decide on their destination only a few days in advance, and tend to move around frequently.

Even before then, though, we had lived in the city and felt something was missing from our lives. But we couldn’t work out what it was until we started taking longer trips, and then we realised we’d never been happier than being out in nature with a changing home.” Bao Zi was once timid and frightened, but she has blossomed since travelling with her owners. Hélène said, “She’s healthier and happier than ever. She had all kinds of medical difficulties before, which all cleared up when we started travelling with her at four years old.” Bao Zi has taken on some canine attributes, such as her curiosity and loyalty. Hélène revealed, “We didn’t want a litter box in the car, so we got a harness so she could do her business outside like a dog. She enjoyed being taken for walks on the leash and eventually it was her who started taking us for walks.”

This intrepid kitty has been on trips around the globe over the last two years, going to five countries and a lot of the USA.
Hélène Vincent, 34, and Alice, 38, Bao Zi's owners, who both work as digital nomads, have taken their rescue cat Bao Zi around 45 US states and 22 national parks so far, and are not stopping there.
The pair from Boston motivate their six-year-old half Maine coon to explore through hiking and travelling, appreciating the chance to observe the world through her eyes.
Hélène said: 'We relish the freedom and spontaneity this way of life provides us. Before the pandemic, we lived in the city and felt something was missing from our lives, but never realised what that was until we began taking extended trips.'
Alice and Hélène noticed a change in Bao Zi's behaviour, who was originally apprehensive and timid. But since getting out and about, she is healthier and happier than ever.
‘She's grown more like a dog than a cat, from her inquisitiveness to how joined to us she is,’ said Hélène.
‘We got a harness for her so she could do her business outside like a dog, and eventually she started leading us on walks!’
