Poor Steve just can't seem to catch a break. His heart has been shattered once again, as his potential love interest Demi Mansfield decided to call it quits on their relationship. It's been a rough road for Steve in the love department ever since his wife Tracy left him for a new life in Spain with former footballer Tommy Orpington. The affair was exposed by Tim Metcalfe, who couldn't keep the secret from his best friend. Although Steve was initially angry, he did his best to win Tracy back. He even proposed to her, but when she found out that he had burned a letter from Tommy inviting her to move away, she packed her bags and left for good. Since then, Steve has been on a mission to find a new love, but with little success.

His hopes were high when Debbie Webster invited him to a cocktail evening at the Chariot Square Hotel, but his attempts to charm a lady were thwarted by his elderly father-in-law, Ken Barlow. But then, he met Demi through his dating app, and things seemed to be going well between them. They bonded over their mutual dislike for Tommy O, and Steve thought he had finally found "the one." In tonight's episode, Tim tried to cheer Steve up by reminding him that there are plenty of other fish in the sea. But Steve was convinced that Demi was his "prize halibut." However, their meeting at the pub didn't go as planned, and Demi ended up storming out, telling Steve to have a nice life. Our hearts break for poor Steve.
