Construction of 15 houses

Siddapura, June.27: The Charitable Trust has built 15 houses for the victims of Nelyahudikeri. The Trust has come forward to provide shelter to refugees of all caste and religions. Every year, many houses are submerged due to floods in the Nelyahudikeri river, where the Kaveri River flows. Residents of the riverfront will be moved to temporary relief centers whenever there is flooding. They are sent back to the same houses, once the rain-causing floods stop. The district administration has been issuing a strict notice for the past three years that all families must permanently relocate due to heavy rains and floods. But so far, the district administration has not been able to provide victims an alternative shelter. So, some donors and organizations have come to the aid of the homeless. AK Hakeem, former president and defending member of Nelyhudikeri, has donated 1.94 acres of his own land near the forest, to build homes for the Nelyahudikeri victims.
