The Congress Central Election Committee has finalized the names of 50 candidates for the upcoming assembly election in Bhopal. After four rounds of discussions, the committee was able to decide the names for 50 out of a total of 86 seats.
Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath discussed the lists with other Congress leaders in New Delhi on Thursday. Despite their best efforts, the party was still struggling to reach a consensus on the remaining names and decided to meet again on Friday.

This includes Manawar –Dr Heerlal Alawa, Mhow –Ramkishore Shukla, Bhind- Choudhary Rakesh Singh, Datia-Rajendra Bharti, Sagar Nidhi Jain, Bhojpur-Rajkumar Patel, Bhopal south-PC Sharma, Shujalpur- Ramveer Singh Sikarwar, Bhopal North-Atif Aqueel, Sironj-Gagendra Raghuwanshi, Badnawar-Bhairo Singh Shekhawat, Simaria –Abhay Mishra, Indore-5-Satyanarayn Patel, Pansemal-Chandraprabha Karade, Timni Rivendra Singh Tomar and Morena –Rakesh Mawai.
The party is still trying to decide the ticket for Chhindwara district, and there is still much discussion to be had over the Shivpuri seat. The ticket has been given to MLA KP Singh, but the sitting MLA from the BJP has also joined the Congress and is demanding a ticket.
As the Congress continues to deliberate over the remaining seats, the party is determined to make sure that all the candidates are selected carefully and fairly. The CEC is expected to make a final decision on Friday.
