Kim Kardashian's famous best friend, Jonathan Cheban, is reportedly taking legal action against a Korean Barbeque sauce company after their bottle injured his hand. The 49 year old reality star - who legally changed his name to Foodgod - is a regular on Kim's TV series, having appeared on the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother with Gemma Collins in 2016.
According to court papers, Jonathan had purchased the bottle of San-J's Korean Barbeque sauce from a grocery shop in Jacksonville, Florida in October of 2020. He says that after putting the condiment in the fridge, he returned to the kitchen a few hours later to find that it had ‘inexplicably exploded’ and caused a huge gash in his hand. The injury resulted in ‘significant blood loss’, and was close to other arteries, causing Jonathan significant pain over the past few years.
Jonathan has claimed that the injury prevented him from accepting endorsement opportunities in 2021 worth tens of thousands of dollars. As a result, he is suing the BBQ sauce company for $20 million in damages caused by the broken product. He has also submitted court documents containing photos of the stitched-up hand and a broken bottle still with the seal attached to the lid.
Jonathan first met his famous pal, Skims founder Kim Kardashian, over a decade ago at the birthday party of NFL legend Mark Gastineau’s daughter Brittny. He has since appeared in plenty of Keeping Up With The Kardashians episodes as well as scenes from the spin-off Kourtney and Kim Take Miami. When contacted for comment, Jonathan's reps and San-J declined to comment.
