CBI searches 7 locations in Gujarat for NEET-UG paper leak investigation.
According to officials, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) has been busy conducting searches at seven locations in Gujarat as part of their investigation into the NEET-UG paper leak case. This operation, which began in the morning, is focused on suspects who are spread out across four districts - Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Godhra.

In connection with the paper leak, the CBI had previously arrested the principal and vice-principal of a school in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh, as well as a journalist from a Hindi newspaper. The officials have revealed that the principal, Ehsanul Haque, was designated as the city coordinator for Hazaribagh and the vice-principal, Imtiaz Alam, was made an observer and centre coordinator for the National Testing Agency's (NTA) medical entrance exam on May 5. The CBI is currently questioning five more individuals from the district in relation to the leak.

The journalist, Jamaluddin Ansari, was arrested for his alleged involvement in assisting the principal and vice-principal. In total, the CBI has registered six FIRs (First Information Reports) in the NEET-UG paper leak case. This includes their own FIR, referred to them by the Union education ministry, and five from various states where they have taken over the investigation. One case each from Bihar and Gujarat, as well as three from Rajasthan, have been handed over to the CBI.

NEET-UG is an exam administered by the NTA for students seeking admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both government and private institutions. This year's exam, which took place on May 5, was conducted at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 abroad. More than 23 lakh candidates had appeared for the test.

The first FIR was registered by the CBI on June 23, a day after the ministry announced that they would be handing over the investigation into the alleged irregularities during the exam to the central agency.
