CBI arrests co-conspirator in NEET-UG leak case from Dhanbad, Jharkhand.
On Wednesday, officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced the arrest of Aman Singh, an alleged co-conspirator in the NEET-UG paper leak case. Singh was apprehended in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, following intelligence gathered by the CBI on a Jharkhand-based module believed to be involved in the paper leak.

This marks the sixth arrest made by the central agency in connection with the case. The CBI had previously detained the principal and vice principal of Oasis school in Hazaribagh, as well as two individuals who provided a safe location for NEET candidates to access the leaked papers, according to officials.

The CBI has launched six separate FIRs in relation to the case, with one from Bihar focusing on the paper leak and the others from Gujarat and Rajasthan addressing allegations of impersonation and cheating by candidates. Additionally, the CBI has initiated its own investigation after receiving a referral from the Union Education Ministry, with the purpose of conducting a thorough examination of the reported irregularities in the medical entrance examination.

NEET-UG is administered by the National Testing Agency and serves as the basis for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both government and private institutions. This year's exam took place on May 5 at 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 abroad. An estimated 24 lakh candidates participated in the test.

In a remarkable turn of events, 67 students achieved a perfect score of 720, a first in the history of the NTA. Of these, six students from a Haryana center made the list, raising concerns about potential malpractice in the examination. There have been allegations that grace marks may have contributed to the 67 students sharing the top rank.

However, the results were later revised on July 1, reducing the number of students sharing the top rank from 67 to 61, according to an announcement by the NTA.
