Dog-lover Evelyn Plummer is about to find herself in a tricky situation on Coronation Street. Her daughter Cassie causes even more trouble when she gets involved.
Maureen Lipman, who plays Evelyn, told The Agency about the storyline. She explained that Evelyn is at the precinct when she spots a man with a van shouting at a frightened dog. Knowing she can't stand by and let injustice go, Evelyn takes the dog home and sets out to find the owner.
People told Evelyn she would need evidence to take action against the owner, so she borrows a camcorder and tails him. He soon realises what she is doing and threatens her. This leaves Evelyn in a dilemma as she is very fond of Tyrone and doesn't want to put him in danger.
Unfortunately, Cassie makes the situation worse when she takes the dog for a walk. Knowing the owner could spot them, Evelyn quickly brings them back home. However, it's too late. Terry, the owner, has already seen them.
He tracks down Evelyn and locks her in the shop, demanding to know the whereabouts of his dog. Dev and Gary Windass have to break in and rescue her.
Maureen added that Cassie's actions take the situation to a whole new level, putting Evelyn in even more danger. This causes a rift between the two as Cassie goes further than Evelyn would have.
