My other idea is that it’ll have a track editor, so that players can build their own courses. A lightweight track editor would be a great way to introduce players to game design without being too technical. And of course, it could also be used to build custom tournaments.
We’ll have to wait until next year to find out, I guess.
GC: It’s certainly not out of the question. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was a huge success and, as you say, Nintendo isn’t beyond repeating a successful formula. We’ll have to wait until we have some more concrete information about the Switch 2 to know for sure.
My other idea is that they could introduce a DIY mode, where you can create your own tracks and then share them with other players. That’s something I’ve wanted to see for a while now and I think it would be a great addition to the series.

GC: Mario Kart 9 is certainly possible, and we’d welcome a DIY mode too. Nintendo has tried track creation before in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS, but it was always limited.
