A tragic accident occurred in Stenhousemuir, near Falkirk, when an 11-year-old boy was struck by a car on King Street. The child was walking along the street, when he was hit by a black Vauxhall Astra at around 4.20pm on Friday.

The emergency services were quickly on the scene and the child was swiftly taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in an ambulance for treatment. Fortunately, the 57-year-old driver of the car was not injured.

The incident caused the road to be shut for around 40 minutes while it was dealt with. Police Scotland are now appealing for witnesses to the crash, as well as anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident.

Sgt Scott Kirkpatrick said: ‘Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened. We are also particularly keen to trace any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around the time it occurred. Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2380 of 29 December.’
