BMC aims to reduce pollution and fuel consumption by promoting the adoption of electric vehicles.

Bhubaneswar: In light of the government's advice to lessen the use of petrol and diesel in our current situation, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has made the decision to gradually incorporate electric vehicles into its fleet. This move is in line with our goal of promoting environmental sustainability, reducing fuel consumption, and addressing concerns about climate change. To kickstart this transition, the civic body has taken the first steps by introducing battery-operated vehicles for the transportation needs of our officials and employees.

Currently, various administrative departments within the corporation, such as engineering, electrical, sanitation, and zonal offices, use diesel-powered vehicles for their operations. However, BMC has now placed a strong emphasis on gradually shifting from these diesel-run vehicles to more environmentally friendly electric ones. To facilitate this move, we have prepared an Expression of Interest, inviting applications from agencies capable of supplying the required electric vehicles.

This is a crucial step in our efforts to reduce environmental pollution and lower carbon emissions. It also aligns with BMC's broader mission to promote eco-friendly urban governance and sustainable development in our city. We at BMC are committed to playing our part in creating a greener and more sustainable future for our community.
