Omari Anderson, the owner and founder of Best Dirty Lemonade, has a special connection to the beverage. Growing up, he watched his mother make homemade beverages, and when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, he wanted to find a way to help her. He began to experiment with cannabis extract and added it to the nostalgic drink to help with her symptoms.
Anderson's journey to becoming an entrepreneur in the cannabis industry was personal and heartfelt. He wanted to make sure his mother felt the benefits of his invention without having to smoke. He crystallized the cannabis to sweeten the lemonade, and was able to provide her with the necessary health benefits. After she passed away, his friends encouraged him to put his invention on the market.
Anderson officially launched his Black-owned cannabis-infused beverage on Juneteenth, and it is now available for purchase in Massachusetts dispensaries. Anderson's mission is two-fold: to make cannabis-infused drinks available to the public, and to destigmatize the use of cannabis for marginalized groups. He partnered with New England Treatment Access (NETA) to expand their initiative, Let's Talk Weed, which helps educate people about the health benefits of cannabis.
In July, Anderson and Let's Talk Weed are holding a panel to strategize how to legalize cannabis lounges in Massachusetts, and to create safe spaces for marginalized groups to partake in cannabis without the threat of criminal action. He hopes to inspire more Black entrepreneurs in the area, and to create an inclusive environment for all.
