State BJP president VD Sharma took a swipe at the Congress party for their decision to take out the Tribal Yatra from July 19. At a press conference held at the BJP office in Bhopal on Sunday, Sharma said that the Congress Tribal Yatra was nothing more than an effort to spread lies. He said that the Congress had ruled the country for more than 55 years but had done nothing for the tribals. He added that the Congress was taking out the Tribal Yatra as part of their efforts to gain votes in the upcoming Assembly Elections.
“But tribals will not fall for it,” Sharma said. He went on to point out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared a day to celebrate the tribals and that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had introduced the PESA Act to grant tribals rights to their land and jungle.
Sharma also addressed the incident in Indore wherein a boy and a woman from the Jain community were allegedly forcibly converted. He said that action was taken in the case and that they were searching for the places in which such jihadi mindsets were being nurtured. He added that it was a surprise that Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath had been silent on the incident. He made it clear that love jihad, land jihad and conversion would not be allowed in Madhya Pradesh and that anyone who converts people forcibly would be sent to jail.
Heavy rains have been continuing in the state of Madhya Pradesh and several rivers have been in spate. Sharma said that the government was doing everything to help the people affected by the floods.
