Bishop O.C. Allen hosts joyous vow renewal ceremony with her husband in Atlanta.
Bishop Oliver Clyde Allen and Rashad Burgess celebrated 20 years of marriage in a spectacular vow renewal ceremony on July 16, 2023. The lavish affair was held at the Southern luxury hotel, The Whitley, in a northern suburb of Atlanta. With over 600 guests in attendance, the power couple was dressed in custom gold and white tuxedos by fashion designer Octavious Terry. As they renewed their vows to each other and their family, their two children stood beside them.

Allen told People that the event “meant the world” to them, as it was an opportunity to bring people together through the power of love. The couple are pioneers in Black LGBTQ+ religious spaces, having founded their own church, Vision Cathedral of Atlanta, in 2005. Allen explained to Today that the mission of the church was to provide a safe space for worship and solace, when other white LGBTQ+ spaces did not.

Judge Glenda Hatchett officiated the union, and the reception continued the theme of regal extravagance. The ballrooms were decorated with gold tables, flowers, candles, and rose petals, to match the color palette. All guests were dressed in all-white haute couture for the special occasion. Allen shared that they were both excited and emotional when they saw their family and friends come to celebrate their 20 years of marriage.

The vow renewal was a magical event of love, joy, and commitment. It was a reminder of the importance of community and family, and the power of love to bring us all together.
