Madikeri, Oct. 26: The dialysis center started by the Daya Rehabilitation Trust of Siddapur, which is a ray of hope for poor patients by providing dialysis at low cost, in collaboration with the Thanal organization, has entered its 7th year despite financial difficulties.
The organization, which provides dialysis at a discounted rate with the cooperation of donors, has won public praise for providing free treatment to the needy, but the organization is now facing financial difficulties.
In the last 6 years, the Daya Rehabilitation Trust has provided 8208 dialysis services to about 34 patients and is providing free dialysis services to 7 poor and needy patients.
A group of youths have joined hands with an innovative program called Biryani Challenge for the past two years to help the organization, which was facing financial difficulties, by organizing the program in the past, in addition to paying off the organization's debt, they have also helped a patient by providing treatment expenses ranging from a minimum of Rs. 500 to a maximum of Rs. 900 for just Rs. 500. This time, by selling about 12,000 biryani, a plan has been made to collect more money and provide free dialysis in the future, for which the cooperation of associations and organizations in the Siddapur area has been expressed.
The cost of maintaining the dialysis center, including staff salaries, electricity, and medication, is 1.75 lakh to 2 lakh per month, and currently it has a debt of 5 lakh.
Already, Kargil Boys, Naima, Hira, Chaliyam Boys, Youth Health Care Gudugadde, MIMS, V Seven Youth Association, Siddhivinayak Mitra Mandali, Royals Youth Association, Vinayak Mitra Mandali, Classic Youth Association, City Boys, SK SSF and SSF organizations from Siddapur and Nellihudikeri have joined hands in the Biryani Challenge program.
What is Biryani Challenge?
An innovative experiment called Biryani Challenge is being done to save the organization from financial difficulties.
Biryani is prepared by collecting rice, meat and other ingredients required for making Biryani from donors. Then it is sold to organizations, offices and homes and the money earned is given to the organization. It is expected to sell more than 12 thousand biryani, and Rs. 120 has been fixed for one biryani. Biryani Challenge will be held on 29th.
Our organization used to provide dialysis treatment that costs Rs. 1500 to 2000 for Rs. 900 earlier. Now, due to financial assistance by organizing Biryani Challenge, treatment is currently being provided for Rs. 500. Monthly maintenance expenses are around Rs. 2 lakh. The organization is currently in debt. If more money is collected through Biryani Challenge this time, there is a plan to provide free service in the future, said Nitish, manager of Daya Rehabilitation Trust.
