BBC presenter believed she was dying after traumatic event
Louise Minchin, well-known for her role on BBC Breakfast, recently opened up about a terrifying ordeal she experienced in the hospital. The 56-year-old former co-host of the popular morning show shares two daughters, Mia and Scarlett, with her husband.

In a candid interview on Gabby Logan's podcast, The Mid-Point, Louise revealed that the birth of her eldest daughter, Mia, was a traumatic experience that left her in need of counseling. She explained, "I think I've been through quite a few things in my life that I just put them in a box and shut it. That's what I do with lots of things, when Mia was born, that's the only thing I've ever kind of had to seek help for actually."

Louise went on to recall the events that led to her needing help. "When Mia was born, a week after she was born, I had a burst appendix. It was really, really serious." She described it as a "ridiculous" coincidence that her appendix chose to burst while she was already in the hospital. She wasn't sure if the excruciating pain she was experiencing was related to her pregnancy or not.

As a first-time mom, Louise was unsure of what to expect and kept telling the medical staff about her pain. However, they dismissed it, attributing it to the natural pain of childbirth. It wasn't until six days after giving birth that Louise's appendix finally burst. "It was very dramatic and very traumatic," she shared. "That's the only thing I've ever had help with actually, because I thought I was going to die six days after my baby was born."

Following the traumatic experience, Louise was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and needed months to recover. She had previously shared with The Mirror in 2013, "After coming out of the hospital, I was still in pain. I'd sleep for hours and was in lots of pain. It took nine months to recover."

Louise also revealed that the experience changed her in many ways, but she has come out stronger and more positive. She remarked, "It's lucky it all happened after Mia was born. I can't imagine what would have happened if I had been pregnant. It changed me, but I'm more positive now. When something like that happens, it gives you a different perspective."

Despite the difficult recovery, Louise and her husband went on to have another child, Scarlett, whose birth was a much smoother experience. Louise joked, "It was lucky it all happened after Mia was born. I can't imagine what would have happened if I had been pregnant. It changed me, but I'm more positive now. When something like that happens, it gives you a different perspective."
