Ujjain: The Ujjain Municipal Corporation is taking part in the Indian Cleanliness League 2.0, a program organised by the Ministry of Urban and Housing Affairs, Government of India, to build a garbage-free city. The Avanti Warriors team from Ujjain, led by Mayor Mukesh Tatwal, recently unveiled the refurbished Nanakheda Bus Stand.
The Avanti Warriors team have come up with basic amenities for the passengers at the bus stand. This includes benches made from reused waste materials, clean drinking water, dedicated She Lounge and Fresh Room for women, hygienic toilets, regular cleaning with mechanical mopping machine, signage, 3 dustbins, systematic arrival and departure of buses, encroachment-free premises, adequate lighting, fans, charging points and a ticket counter. Apart from this, paintings and cleanliness messages have been made around the entire bus stand complex.
On the occasion, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal, UMC Speaker Kalavati Yadav and Commissioner Raushan Kumar Singh administered the oath of cleanliness to the citizens and students present. A painting competition was also organised for children in which Gati Sharma, Kumkum Paregi and Divya Kushwaha were honoured. All students who participated in the competition were felicitated and given certificates.
The UMC has also launched the “Youth Engagement Signature” campaign to promote cleanliness in the city. This is a major step taken by the city towards a brighter and cleaner future.
