ATM robbed, 5.73 lakh stolen.
Late on a Sunday night in Gopalpur, a small town in Ganjam district, a group of robbers made their way to an ATM at Kanisi Hata. Using a gas cutter, they broke into the ATM, which belonged to UCO Bank and was located near National Highway-16. The robbers managed to steal a total of Rs 5,73,300 before escaping from the scene by closing the shutter behind them.

It wasn't until Monday morning when bank officials opened the ATM that they discovered the robbery. The Assistant Branch Manager of the bank, Shibaram Panda, immediately reported the incident to Golanthara police station. Upon receiving the complaint, the police team consisting of IIC Vivekananda Swain, SI Bibhuti Sethi, and a scientific team arrived at the spot to begin their investigation.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the robbers had arrived in a white car and had tampered with a nearby CCTV camera. The police have registered a case at Golanthara police station and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the NH-16 and surrounding areas. There is a suspicion that the robbers may be from another state, but IIC Swain mentioned that they are looking into all aspects of the case to determine the perpetrators.
