Manchester United are considering Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund as a potential transfer option this summer. The 20-year-old currently plies his trade with Atalanta, but the Italian club are reportedly open to offers in the range of £34m to £39m.
Hojlund enjoyed a successful debut season in Serie A in the 2020/21 season, finding the net nine times in 32 appearances. While the Dane has welcomed the speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford, he is also happy with the progress he is making at Atalanta.
“It is a huge club, so I must have done something right if it’s rumoured they want me,” Hojlund said. “We have to see what happens. As you see and hear, I imagine a lot could happen to quite a few strikers this summer, as many clubs are looking for a no9. Something will definitely happen there, and then we’ll have to wait and see if I am included in it. I am very happy to be with Atalanta and we have qualified for Europe. I have found myself in a really good place here, so now we have to wait and see.”
United's spending power is limited this summer, with Tottenham and Napoli valuing strikers Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen in excess of £100m. This has led to the Premier League side casting their net a bit wider, with Porto's Mehdi Taremi being linked as a possible low-cost option.
The club is also in talks with Inter Milan to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana and are hoping to wrap up the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea next week. With Hojlund being a realistic option given the current financial climate, the Red Devils will be hoping to strike a deal with Atalanta soon and secure his services.
