Two new classes have been incorporated into this year's Helping it Happen Awards. Scottish Land & Estates, the membership organization that organizes the competition, expressed that the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Rural Scotland is intended to honor "those who have devoted their lives to working in and for Scotland’s countryside." The Rural Rising Star Award is intended to "illuminate those who have accomplished accomplishment through determination and development, making themselves ones to watch in the rural area in years to come."
Chief executive Sarah-Jane Laing said: “SLE’s Helping it Happen Awards intends to highlight the crucial commitments made by land-based businesses, associations and individuals to their networks across rural Scotland and I’m eager to be dispatching the nomination process for 2023.
“Whether it be aiding the environment and nature, supporting employment and the local economy or doing vital work across divisions such as farming, housing or education, these awards have celebrated the effect that numerous unsung heroes give to society.”
She included: “Once more we would urge individuals from all over Scotland to present their nominations for this year’s awards.
“We were charmed with the quantity and quality of entries a year ago and I anticipate this year’s crop of nominations with extraordinary eagerness.
“Going by past years, I know our judging board will have a troublesome errand ahead when it comes to choosing our finalists.”
