Ant McPartlin celebrated his 48th birthday in style this past weekend, just days before the launch of the new season of I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
His co-host, Declan Donnelly, had made some special plans to make sure Ant's birthday was special. In a video shared on the co-hosts joint social media accounts, Ant could be seen scrolling on his phone when Dec walked over with a box and singing to him: ‘Hippity hoppity, Happy Birthday to you.’
The box contained a cake that had been apparently bought from the UK, but when Dec opened the box, it became clear something had gone wrong. The cake was cracked and the photo on it was not of Ant. Trying to explain the ‘mistake’, Dec said the baker had apparently misunderstood his instruction. Despite the mishap, Ant laughed and then shoved his finger into the cake, squashing Dec's face right down.
Dec then went through all of Ant's favourite cake flavours, and decided to go with chocolate cake, as ‘I prefer it’. Ant might not have liked the flavour, but he seemed to enjoy the sentiment. The pair then shared the rest of the cake with their crew and declared that they would be doing an impromptu episode of Taste Mates.
It was clear that Ant had a lovely birthday, even with the small hiccups. He was seen out on Saturday celebrating his birthday near the Gold Coast, where the reality series is filmed. He smiled and gave a thumbs up as he went inside, and it was clear he was in high spirits.
