An incident in Perth results in a pedestrian's death and the arrest of the driver following a reported rampage.
A shocking and disturbing incident unfolded in Perth, where a driver was arrested for allegedly causing the death of a pedestrian and terrorizing others while driving with two young children in his car. The incident began around 11am in Bayswater when police were alerted to a man in a silver Holden Commodore who was reported to be behaving erratically and possibly armed with a knife.

According to WA Police Inspector Jason Van Der Ende, the man was seen pacing and brandishing a large weapon at a young father who was inside his Ford Ranger. The father, Esmat Raz, was holding onto his door and fearing for his life as the man allegedly slashed his tires and tried to open his door multiple times. Raz managed to capture a video of the terrifying encounter and also got the license plate number of the man's car.

After fleeing from Skew Road, the alleged attacker continued down Beechboro Road where he targeted a group of tradies. Witnesses reported that the man pulled up in his car with a knife and then quickly changed his mind and drove off. But the chaos was far from over as the silver Commodore then struck a man walking outside the Bayswater Hotel on Railway Parade, about 500 meters away.

Van Der Ende stated, "It is during this time that we understand there was an incident between the driver of the silver Commodore and another person who was struck by the vehicle." The 52-year-old victim received first aid from police but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and passed away at Royal Perth Hospital.

Meanwhile, the man believed to be responsible for the incident was arrested and is currently undergoing a medical examination. No charges have been laid yet. Thankfully, the two young children in the back seat of the car were unharmed and have been taken into safety.

Police are now working to gather more information and evidence about the incident, including whether the silver Commodore was involved in any previous collisions. Inspector Van Der Ende assured the community that the situation is under control and that their investigation is ongoing. He also urged anyone with information or dash cam footage to come forward and assist with their investigation.

This shocking and traumatic incident has left the community in shock and disbelief. It serves as a reminder of the unpredictable and dangerous situations that can arise on our roads.
