The much-anticipated finale of EastEnders is fast approaching, and fans are buzzing with speculation about what's to come. In an exclusive interview with The Agency, actor Navin Chowdhry, who plays Nish Panesar, opened up about his character's impending death and the potential threat posed by his own family.
Nish, the wicked businessman, made a surprise return to Albert Square in May to hand his ex-wife Suki their divorce papers. But it soon became clear that there was more to his visit than meets the eye. Nish revealed that he has a terminal illness and only has a few months left to live.
At the Radio Times Soap Awards, Navin shared his surprise at the unexpected plot twist. "When I first heard about it a few months ago, I thought, 'wow, that's a really interesting way to go'," he explained.
Nish is back in Walford and causing trouble once again. After being rejected by his family, he sold the Bridge Street Cafe back to Kathy Beale for a mere £1, ensuring that they would not receive any inheritance from him.
Suki, Nish's conniving mother, is also in on his plan to secure their family's financial future. But will Nish find out about their scheme?
Navin revealed that he would love to see a confrontation between Nish and his family. "As a viewer, I think I would like to see them go head to head. Have a battle," he said.
Standing alongside his co-star Jonny Freeman, who plays Vinny, Nish's son, Navin joked about the possibility of Nish finding out about their plans and his reaction to it. "I'm not sure he's going to be in The Vic with Reiss cracking jokes. His reaction is going to be slightly different - if it happens," he laughed.
Navin also hinted at the potential villainous side of Suki, saying, "This man is dying, so let's see what her reaction might be."
As much as fans may want Suki to succeed in her plan, they also hope for Nish to discover the truth and for things to kick off in true EastEnders fashion.
