Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has opened up on her hair loss amid her cancer treatment. The 33 year old pro dancer revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. After undergoing a single mastectomy, Amy is now having chemotherapy after doctors sadly found more tumours, forcing her out of Strictly 2023.
Amy has been taking to social media to show her brave face and share updates of her treatment. In her recent Instagram stories, Amy revealed she’s been losing more and more hair and asked fans for tips on how to deal with the heartbreak. After one bluntly told her to ‘shave it off’, she responded: ‘I’m personally not ready for this. Everyone is different and how they cope or go about their journey is up to them and need to be what’s right for them’.
Amy has been using a cold cap during her treatment and shared a video of the hair that had fallen out, writing: ‘The reality when I gently comb’ with a broken heart emoji. She added: ‘So much everyday! So hard! One day at a time!’
Amy wants to remind everyone that every journey is personal. She wrote: ‘I’ve had lots telling me just shave it. It’s only hair. Absolutely to those who brave the shave, you are strong! But please all remember everyone of us have different emotions, battles and deals with everything with what’s best for them and how they cope best! All journeys are personal.’
