In a heartwarming gesture, the team behind the movie 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' has announced a sum of Rs 2 crore for the family of the unfortunate victims who were caught in the tragedy that occurred at Sandhya Theatre on December 4. Actor Allu Arjun, along with the producers and director of the film, made this announcement on Wednesday. The generous cheque was handed over to Dil Raju, the chairman of Telangana State Film Development Corporation, by Allu Arjun's father and renowned producer Allu Arvind.
Speaking to the media, Allu Arvind revealed that the decision to extend financial assistance to the family was made after a meeting with Sri Teja, the young boy who was critically injured in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital. He further added that the film unit collectively decided to provide Rs 2 crore to support the boy and his family during this difficult time. Allu Arjun himself contributed Rs 1 crore, while the producers of the film, Mythri Movies, and the director Sukumar, each gave Rs 50 lakh.
Allu Arvind also mentioned that they had spoken to the doctors and were relieved to hear that Sri Teja is on the path to recovery. It is worth noting that Allu Arjun had already pledged Rs 25 lakh for the family immediately after the tragedy. He had also assured them of any additional help required, including covering the medical expenses of the young boy.
The family of Sri Teja is receiving immense support from both the government of Telangana and Allu Arjun. The boy's father, Bhaskar, shared that they received a cheque of Rs 10 lakh from the actor's side. He also mentioned that Allu Arjun's manager is constantly in touch with them, providing updates on the boy's health. Bhaskar expressed his gratitude towards Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who presented them with a cheque of Rs 25 lakh.
In a recent update, Bhaskar shared that after 20 days, they noticed some body movement from Sri Teja. He even opened his eyes, although he was unable to recognize anyone. For those who are unaware, a woman named Revathi lost her life in the stampede at Sandhya Theatre, while Sri Teja was critically injured. Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the case on December 13, but was released on interim bail the following day. The Chikkadpally Police, who registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, interrogated Allu Arjun for over three hours on Tuesday.
