A woman, who claims that she was sexually assaulted by Sean "Diddy" Combs, has recently amended her lawsuit to include allegations against Jay-Z. According to the civil lawsuit, the woman was also assaulted by Jay-Z at the same party where Combs was present. Initially filed against Combs in October, the lawsuit now includes Shawn Carter, also known as Jay-Z, as a defendant.
Carter is the first celebrity to be accused of sexual assault in connection to Combs. In response to the allegations, Carter addressed CNN with a statement, calling the accusations "heinous in nature." He urged the woman to file a criminal complaint rather than a civil one, stating that whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away.
The lawsuit also states that Combs has been indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and prostitution-related charges. However, he has pleaded not guilty and has denied any wrongdoing in the roughly 30 civil lawsuits filed against him.
The woman, who is identified as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, claims that she was only 13 years old when the alleged assault took place. According to the amended lawsuit, the woman says she consumed a drink at the afterparty following the Video Music Awards in 2000 and began to feel woozy. She then entered a nearby bedroom where she alleges Carter raped her first, followed by Combs. The woman claims to have hit Combs and ran out of the party.
In the initial lawsuit, Carter was identified as "Celebrity A." The woman's attorneys reached out to Carter with a request for mediation to resolve the matter, according to the lawsuit.
However, in his response to the request, Carter called it a "blackmail attempt." He also mentioned that he had done some research on the woman's attorney, who seemed to have a pattern of similar theatrics.
CNN has also reached out to Carter's wife, Beyoncé Knowles, for comment on the matter.
In November, CNN reported that an anonymous male celebrity had filed a lawsuit against the Texas attorney representing the woman, accusing him of extortion. The celebrity claimed that the attorney and his firm were attempting to extort large sums of money from him by threatening to publicly release false allegations of sexual assault.
The attorney, Tony Buzbee, denied the extortion claims in an Instagram post and in a statement to CNN, stating that his firm would not allow powerful individuals and their lawyers to intimidate sexual assault survivors.
Buzbee also mentioned that the celebrity's attempt to hide their identity while claiming innocence did not seem like a smart move. He expressed confidence that with full public disclosure, the truth would prevail.
