After photos of luxurious prison treatment were leaked, Darshan was moved out of Bengaluru jail.
Early on Thursday morning, sources confirmed that the jailed Kannada superstar Darshan, who is accused in the kidnapping and murder of a fan, was taken out of Bengaluru Central Prison and being transferred to Ballari Jail. This decision was made following the release of photos and videos that showed Darshan receiving special treatment while in prison.

The police escorted Darshan out of the prison at 4:30 am in a Bolero vehicle, which had its windows covered with curtains to prevent the media and the public from seeing him. It was also reported that the authorities changed their usual route from Chitradurga to Ballary, and instead took the Chikkaballapur-Bagepalli route through Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur. ACP Bharat Reddy is leading the convoy.

To ensure the safety of the surrounding areas, tight security measures were put in place at Ballari Jail to prevent any gatherings of Darshan's fans. This decision was made after the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court ordered Darshan's transfer to Bellary Central jail from Bengaluru Central Prison on Tuesday.

The request to transfer Darshan was made by the Chief Superintendent, after a photo surfaced on social media showing him hanging out with three others, including a rowdy sheeter, in the prison's lawn. While Darshan's partner and prime accused in the case, Pavithra Gowda, will remain in Bengaluru Central Prison, his other associates will be transferred to different prisons in Mysuru, Shivamogga, Dharwad, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, and Belagavi.

In light of this incident, seven prison staff members, including two jailers, were suspended and three FIRs were lodged. Three special teams have been assigned to investigate the matter. On Wednesday, the 24th ACMM court extended the judicial custody of Darshan, Pavithra, and 15 others till September 9 in connection with the kidnapping and murder case. The prosecution argued that granting bail to Darshan could lead to threats against the deceased fan's family and that there was a risk of evidence destruction if the accused were released.

The brutal murder of Darshan's fan Renukaswamy took place on June 8 in Bengaluru. He was kidnapped from his hometown, Chitradurga, and brought to Bengaluru where he was tortured and eventually killed. His body was then disposed of in a canal. The incident was brought to light after security personnel from a private apartment building witnessed the body being dragged by a group of dogs.
