Actor nearly lost role for substance abuse.
Dominic Fike is best known for being a successful musician before being cast in the second season of Sam Levinson’s HBO drama, Euphoria, in which he plays Elliot, a new acquaintance of Rue’s. However, he recently revealed that his drug addiction nearly caused him to get fired from the show.

‘I was a drug addict, and coming onto a show, you know, mainly about drugs is very difficult,’ he shared when speaking to Zane Lowe for Apple Music. ‘I was so f***ed up doing a lot of that show…it was really bad. I was reprimanded for it. I almost, you know, got kicked off the show…they were like “bro, you cannot be doing this”.’

He went on to say that the show's creator, Sam, had tried to help by getting him a sober coach, but it didn’t make a difference because he was high all the time. Dominic then admitted that he even filmed scenes for the show while under the influence of drugs.

‘Yeah, that’s entertainment dude. They give you a bunch of money and they’re like, “Yeah, figure it out bud. Sink or swim”,’ he said.

Dominic had also revealed to GQ magazine that he had taken mushrooms before his chemistry read with Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat in the first two seasons. However, he didn’t get the part at the time.

After going to rehab in 2020, casting directors went back to Dominic and offered him the role. Now sober, he believes the upcoming third season is going to be great and he has a better dynamic with everyone.

Euphoria is streaming on NOW, and if you’re a fan, you can share your favorite character in the comments.
