Hundreds of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers staged a powerful protest in Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh, on Friday. The protest was against the policies of the Baghel Government, increased corruption, irregularities in the recruitment of government jobs, including CG-PSC, and deteriorating law and order.
The ABVP agitators tried to break through the barricades and reach the Chief Minister's Official residence. The police force, deployed at the site, used mild force to disperse the crowd. Unfortunately, some of the ABVP members and police personnel were injured in the clashes. Eventually, the police had to detain some of the agitators to restore order.
Yagyavalkya Shukla, the National General Secretary of ABVP, spoke to the media about the protest. He stated that it was due to the students' anger and frustration over the way their rights and opportunities to have a fair selection in government jobs and CGPSC have been taken away. The demonstration was an action against the robbery of the student rights.
Shukla further added that the ABVP was marching towards the CM House to hand over the documents and evidence related to the CGPSC scam. However, they were stopped by force. He declared that no amount of force can break the courage and determination of the ABVP in seeking justice.
Earlier, after the CGPSC results were declared, BJP and ABVP had held massive protests, claiming that ineligible wards and relatives of the then Chairman Taman Singh Sonwani, bureaucrats, and other Congress leaders were illegally placed on the merit list.
On October 3, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will launch the 'Swami Atmanand Coaching' Scheme to provide free coaching to the SC/ST/OBC/Minority students for various competitive examinations.
