In the bustling city of Bhubaneswar, a notorious burglar named Arjun Anare from Madhya Pradesh was finally captured on Monday after a police encounter near Balianta Canal. According to the authorities, Arjun was on the list of most wanted criminals and had been evading capture for quite some time.
The encounter resulted in Arjun sustaining a bullet wound in his left leg and he was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra confirmed the news and mentioned that five of Arjun's accomplices had managed to escape.
Mishra explained, "The police were on a routine patrol when they noticed two abandoned motorcycles in a certain location. As they approached the vehicles, the suspects turned hostile and one of them even opened fire at the police."
In response, the police team retaliated and during the exchange of gunfire, Arjun was shot. Mishra further added, "We believe that there were a total of six individuals involved in the crime, riding on three motorcycles. However, only one was apprehended."
Upon searching Arjun's possessions, the police found a firearm, tools used for housebreaking, 100 grams of gold, 500 grams of silver ornaments, Rs 18,000 in cash, three live rounds of ammunition, a mobile phone, and various other items. Mishra also mentioned that a stolen motorcycle, which was used in the crimes, was recovered by the police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Arjun and his gang, who were from Madhya Pradesh, were involved in multiple burglary cases targeting apartments on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, as well as in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Mishra informed, "We have identified the other members of Arjun's gang and our special team will soon be traveling to Madhya Pradesh to conduct further investigations and recover the stolen goods."
