A US fair's 'husband-calling' contest is examined, with contestants giving their all to win.
As many of you are aware, the Wilson County - Tennessee State Fair is home to a variety of exciting competitions. One of the newer additions to the fair caught our attention and we couldn't resist checking it out for ourselves. Sitting next to her husband Gene, Shannon Howorko shared their reason for attending the fair. "We've always wanted to experience a fair in the US," she said, "especially since we're all the way from Canada - Calgary, Alberta to be exact."

Gene, who works as a truck driver, was stationed in Lebanon when Shannon came to visit him. Visiting the Wilson County - Tennessee State Fair was a must for them. They were both impressed with the fair and its people, with Gene adding, "Southern hospitality is definitely a real thing!" They particularly enjoyed watching the crowds indulge in fair food like buckets of fries and deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches before hopping on a ride that spun them upside down.

As they explored the fair, Gene couldn't help but express his love for the old town they stumbled upon. "What's the name of this place?" he asked Shannon, to which she replied with a smile, "Fiddler's Grove!" It seemed like they were having a great time until they heard someone shouting from a nearby stage, "JEEEEEFF! SUUUUUPPER!"

The couple's attention was immediately drawn to the commotion as another woman shouted from a different stage, "JOHN! There's something outside! Can you get up and find out what it is?!" It turned out to be the Husband Calling Contest, a simple yet entertaining competition where wives call out to their husbands. "Bay-beee!" one woman shouted, while another expertly called out, "Henry! Get in from the field!" The crowd, both on and off stage, were thoroughly entertained.

Shannon, feeling a little adventurous, thought she should give it a try. "I've embarrassed him more than once," she laughed, referring to her husband. The announcer's words only fueled her desire to participate, "You ladies are going to regret not signing up. You're going to be lying in bed tonight thinking, 'I should have done it,' and I thought, 'that's exactly what I'll be thinking if I don't do it.'"

Without hesitation, she confidently shouted to the crowd, "GEEEEEEEENO! Get that snow shoveled!" Everyone was impressed, including her husband Gene who proudly said, "It was awesome!" Shannon couldn't contain her excitement, "I have a sore throat now. I kinda gave 'er my all." She proudly showed off her first-place ribbon, exclaiming, "I love it!"

Her husband couldn't be prouder, "I mean, c'mon. I couldn't be prouder," he said. Shannon, overwhelmed with joy, expressed her love for her husband, "Oh, honey! I love you!" The couple, now officially part of the Wilson County community, were welcomed with open arms, "Welcome to Wilson County, Gene and Shannon. Call anytime."

For those who want to stay updated with the latest breaking news, celebrity gossip, and sports updates, the fair even had a WhatsApp channel. "Stay across all the latest in breaking news, celebrity and sport via our WhatsApp channel. No comments, no algorithm and nobody can see your private details," the fair announced. It was a fun and memorable experience for the couple, and they were grateful to have been a part of it.
