Auriol Grey was sentenced to three years in prison for manslaughter after shouting at a cyclist, who then fell into the path of an oncoming car. The 49-year-old was caught on CCTV angrily gesturing towards the road as 77-year-old retired midwife Celia Ward approached, telling her to 'get off the f**king pavement'. Judge Sean Enright stated that their actions 'were not explained by disability'. The prosecutor, Simon Spence KC, stated that Grey gestured in a hostile and aggressive way as the two headed in opposite directions on the pavement of the ring road in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. In her police interview, Grey claimed to be partially sighted and described the bicycle as travelling fast in the centre of the pavement.

Celia Ward, pictured with her husband David, died at the scene. Although it is illegal to cycle on the pavement, the court heard police were unable to 'categorically' confirm whether the pavement was a shared cycleway.
